With a general increase in the level of prosperity around in the world has come an increase in the consumption of all products, and wood is no exception. At the moment, there is a worldwide shortage of timber. There is still, however, a sufficient quantity of high quality wood veneer available to meet our needs for the foreseeable future. It perhaps requires more diligence on the part of our industry to make it available, and more versatility on the part of the architectural and design industry to use it wisely. Certainly a broadening of the number of species used and specified can be a help. High quality installations with attractive woods are not yet a thing of the past.
